Standing Committees<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Council includes standing committees responsible for carrying out the studies and tasks assigned to them by the Bureau of the Council, in accordance with the resolutions of the General Assembly. Each committee is composed of no fewer than ten members and no more than twenty members, elected by the General Assembly for a renewable term of two and a half years.<\/p>\n

Each standing committee elects from among its members a chairperson and a rapporteur. It is not permitted to hold the chairmanship of more than one standing committee simultaneously.<\/p>\n

The Council\u2019s internal regulations set the number of standing committees at six, which are as follows:<\/p>\n

              Temporary Committees and Special Working Groups<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

              The Council\u2019s General Assembly may, upon the President\u2019s proposal, establish temporary committees or special working groups tasked with studying a specific subject within its functions and responsibilities.<\/p>\n

              The Council\u2019s Bureau defines the responsibilities of temporary committees and special working groups, their operating procedures, and the duration of their mandate, and appoints their members from among the Council members.<\/p>\n
